Living in a city can become monotonous at times. And monotony was what was broken on 20th March this year. It was World Sparrow Day and it could have passed by without a fuss like many other Days - Drinking Straw Day, Chocolate Day or even Valentine's Day but for Ahmedabad Mirror 's wonderful initiative to distribute sparrow houses to interested people in Ahmedabad. These sparrow houses are small clay pots with a small hole at the top. The aim was to provide sparrows with lots of cozy spaces in the city to build their nests and give birth to little chicks because spaces is what these little birds can't find in the concrete and glass buildings of our times. All queued up to get hold of a sparrow house! And I think, the houses with the small hole were specially designed to prevent other more intruding birds like pigeons from building their nests in it. A trip to Java and Bali Islands in Indonesia and KualaLumpur in Malaysia So after a quick trip to Himachal Pradesh with friends, it was time to pack up bags for a tour to distant lands - Indonesia and Malaysia for a 9 day trip (14/4/2011 - 22/4/2011). Here are the highlights of our amazing trip!!! Reaching There: With bags packed and all documents (visas, passports and air tickets) ready, we left from Mumbai CSIT for Surabaya (East Java) via KualaLumpur. The 10 hours travel time (including transit time at KL) left us a bit tired and drained but we had the entire trip to look forward to. We checked in at Family Guest House in Surabaya at around 1 AM local time. We'll all soon be off, on another exciting journey, To a destination yet unknown. To be called Organization Trainees! With no inkling of what lies ahead, A rising anxiety in the mind, But excited as we are about new things that we may find! New people, new places, new traditions and an opportunity few people ever get. I' m sure it ll be an experience that none of us will ever forget! The aim is to explore better ways of doing same old things, But above all is, to explore ourselves to become better human beings! So here's wishing you all Good Luck, with your OU and OAC.
